Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) entered the IPL 2024 auction with a limited purse of 13.15 crores, being one of the newest franchises in the league. Despite their modest budget, they have demonstrated consistency by reaching the playoffs in the last two seasons.
Gautam Gambhir’s departure from the franchise paved the way for Justin Langer to take over as the full-time head coach, while KL Rahul continues to lead the team. The team made a strategic move by trading Devdutt Padikkal from Rajasthan Royals in exchange for Avesh Khan.
Retaining a strong core of players, LSG kept notable names such as Kyle Mayers, Marcus Stoinis, Mark Wood, Naveen Ul Haq, Nicholas Pooran, Quinton De Kock, and Ravi Bishnoi. The release of players like Arpit Guleria, Daniel Sams, Jaydev Unadkat, Karan Sharma, Karun Nair, Manan Vohra, Suryansh Shegde, and Swapnil Singh didn’t significantly impact the team’s composition.
With aspirations to claim the title in their third IPL season, LSG, under the leadership of KL Rahul and coach Justin Langer, strategically targeted players in the auction. They acquired Shivam Mavi, M. Siddharth, David Willey, Ashton Turner, Arshin Kulkarni, and Mohd. Arshad Khan.
The complete LSG squad for IPL 2024 includes KL Rahul, Amit Mishra, Ayush Badoni, Deepak Hooda, Devdutt Padikkal, K. Gowtham, Krunal Pandya, Kyle Mayers, Marcus Stoinis, Mark Wood, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Naveen Ul Haq, Nicholas Pooran, Prerak Mankad, Quinton De Kock, Ravi Bishnoi, Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Charak, Shivam Mavi, Arshin Kulkarni, M Siddharth, Ashton Turner, David Willey, and Arshad Khan.
