Cricket fans, get ready for some exciting news about the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan! Legendary cricketer Wasim Akram has a special message for India that could make this tournament unforgettable.
Wasim Akram Wants India to Join the Fun Legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram hopes India will travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, emphasizing the positive impact such events could have on cricket in both countries. Pakistan is fully prepared to host, with fantastic facilities and new stadiums being built in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad.
“I hope that India comes to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. The whole country is looking forward to receiving all the teams. The cricket will be great and we will welcome them in splendid fashion. We have great facilities and are working on new stadiums,” Akram told IANS.
The Pakistan Cricket Board’s plan has India playing all their matches at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, with the India-Pakistan clash and the tournament final on March 9 set to be held there. Karachi’s National Stadium and the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will also host matches.
India’s travel to Pakistan for cricket has been a heated topic for years. Since 2006, political tensions have kept these cricketing giants apart except during ICC events. There are reports that the BCCI might prefer a “hybrid mode” if India’s participation is confirmed.
Akram’s hopeful outlook contrasts sharply with the 2023 Asia Cup, where matches were moved to Sri Lanka because India couldn’t travel to Pakistan. Such political issues have hindered bilateral series between these rivals since 2012, limiting their clashes to ICC events and the Asia Cup. Although Pakistan participated in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, the BCCI has been clear that any future Indian team travel to Pakistan will need government approval.
