High-Security Measures in Gwalior for IND vs BAN T20I

The city of Gwalior has turned into a high-security zone as it prepares to host the 1st T20I between India and Bangladesh. With over 1600 security jawans on duty, both teams have been given top-notch protection, ensuring that the players can focus on the match without any concerns. Gwalior, hosting an international cricket match for the first time in 14 years, is pulling out all the stops for safety.

Why the Triple-Layered Security?

Security concerns spiked after the Hindu Mahasabha announced a protest on the day of the match, objecting to the event due to issues related to Hindus in Bangladesh. In response, Gwalior has implemented a triple-layered security system for both teams. These precautions include 1600 jawans patrolling the city, drop gates, and barricades at key points along the teams’ travel routes to and from the stadium. A total of 26 locations and 14 intersections have been secured with additional barricades, ensuring smooth transit for the players.

Cricket Stars Arrive in Waves

The Indian cricket team arrived in Gwalior in three separate groups. The first wave, consisting of rising talents like Mayank Yadav, Abhishek Sharma, and Riyan Parag, touched down early in the morning, around 8:30 AM. Following them, a second group arrived at 11 AM, which included players like Arshdeep Singh and Harsjit Rana. The third group, featuring the senior squad members like Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, landed in the afternoon.

The Bangladesh cricket team also arrived on separate flights, with passionate cricket fans gathering at the airport to welcome both teams despite the heightened security.

Protests and Police Action

Adding to the tension, the Hindu Mahasabha held a black-flag protest in opposition to the match. They rallied in the streets of Gwalior, but the demonstration was quickly contained by the police as they lacked official permission. Despite the protests, the teams remain unfazed, ready to face off in what promises to be an exciting match.

Gwalior Prepares for a Cricket Spectacle

As Gwalior prepares for this high-profile encounter between India and Bangladesh, the security measures in place aim to ensure that both teams and fans can enjoy the game in a safe environment. With the match bringing international cricket back to Gwalior after more than a decade, the excitement is palpable, and the anticipation for a thrilling contest is high.
