Adrian Le Roux Replaces Soham Desai as Strength and Conditioning Coach for India’s England Tour
In a significant move, Adrian Le Roux has replaced Soham Desai as the strength and conditioning coach for the Indian men’s cricket team ahead of their upcoming tour of England. This marks Le Roux’s second tenure with the national team after he previously served in the role from January 2002 to May 2003. As the team gears up for a challenging five-match Test series beginning June 20 at Headingley, Leeds, Le Roux has already joined the training camp and is seen in a BCCI training video along with the rest of the squad at Lord’s.
Le Roux’s appointment brings fresh energy as India aims for their first Test series win in England since 2007. Under the leadership of new Test captain Shubman Gill, India has a young team ready to face the formidable English conditions. With the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, and Jasprit Bumrah leading the bowling attack, the squad also boasts experienced players like Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja in their ranks. Gill, who replaced Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as India’s 37th Test captain, is determined to guide the team to success.
A New Era for India in England
The series will take place at some of the most iconic English cricket grounds, including Headingley, Edgbaston, Lord’s, Old Trafford, and The Oval. To ensure they are fully prepared for the upcoming challenges, several India A players, along with members of the senior squad, have already arrived in England. These players are currently competing in the second unofficial Test match against the England Lions in Northampton.
Adrian Le Roux’s Return to International Cricket
Before returning to the Indian team, Adrian Le Roux made a significant impact in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he served as the strength and conditioning coach for Punjab Kings for six years. Under his guidance, the team reached the IPL 2025 final, narrowly missing out on the championship by just six runs. Le Roux took to Instagram to bid farewell to the team after the season, reflecting on his time with the franchise. His post highlighted the importance of relationships and shared moments in the world of professional sport, beyond just the focus on performance and pressure.
Le Roux’s leadership and expertise in fitness and conditioning will be crucial as the Indian team begins a new cycle in the World Test Championship. This tour also marks the beginning of Shubman Gill’s leadership journey, and the Cricket Army is hopeful that Le Roux’s experience will play a vital role in the team’s success.
India’s upcoming Test series is sure to be a thrilling experience for all fans, and the Cricket Army is eager to see how this new team dynamic unfolds under the guidance of both Gill and Le Roux.
