Alzarri Joseph’s Suspension: CWI Takes Strong Action

Bridgetown, Barbados – Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced a two-match suspension for fast bowler Alzarri Joseph following an incident in the 3rd CG United ODI at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. The suspension reflects CWI’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and sportsmanship.

CWI Director of Cricket, Miles Bascombe, spoke on the matter, underscoring the importance of discipline in the game. “Alzarri’s actions didn’t meet CWI’s core values, and we had to respond decisively,” he said, emphasizing that the board won’t overlook any behavior that strays from their expectations for the players.

Joseph’s Apology

In a statement following the suspension, Alzarri Joseph expressed regret for his actions, admitting that his passion for the game had led to a lapse in judgment. “I recognize that my passion got the best of me. I’ve apologized to Captain Shai Hope, my teammates, and management. To the West Indies fans, I am deeply sorry. I know even a brief lapse can have a big impact,” Joseph shared.

CWI’s Standards and Commitment

CWI reiterated its commitment to a culture of respect, integrity, and discipline, both on and off the field. As the organization continues to work toward instilling these values across all levels, this suspension serves as a reminder of the board’s high standards and its dedication to accountability.
