Siraj’s Honest Take on Omission
Mohammed Siraj Champions Trophy snub left fans and the pacer himself stunned. The Indian speedster opened up about how tough it was to be left out of the 2025 Champions Trophy squad.
“I wasn’t able to digest it,” said Siraj after delivering a fiery 4/17 spell in Gujarat Titans’ win over Sunrisers Hyderabad.
He revealed it was a mental battle after staying consistently with the national team. Still, the Mohammed Siraj Champions Trophy snub pushed him to reset and refocus.
“I worked on fitness, mindset, and my game,” he said. “Whatever I was doing wrong, I fixed it. IPL gave me that stage again.”
A Special Night at Home
It was more than just stats for Siraj. Playing at his home ground with his family in the stands made it emotional.
“I saw my parents cheering—that gave me an extra boost,” he added.
He credited his past experience with RCB for building resilience. “Seven years of grinding. I’ve matured.”
Captain’s Applause
GT skipper Shubman Gill called Siraj’s energy “infectious” and hailed his bowlers as true match-winners.
“People talk about big-hitting in T20s, but matches are won by bowlers,” said Gill.
He also praised Washington Sundar, who played a key role in GT’s run chase.
Smart Planning Pays Off
Washington revealed how smart advice helped:
“Gill told me to play deep. I knew Hyderabad’s track eases in the second innings, and it worked.”
GT chased 153 comfortably as Gill remained unbeaten on 61.
SRH Skipper Reflects
SRH captain Pat Cummins admitted they were a few runs short. “The pitch didn’t behave like a typical Hyderabad wicket. We expected more spin.”
