Mohammed Siraj honored by Telangana government as DSP, preparing for India vs New Zealand Test

Mohammed Siraj Takes on New Role as DSP

Mohammed Siraj, India’s fast-bowling sensation, has officially donned a new hat—Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). The Telangana government recently honored Siraj for his outstanding cricket achievements by awarding him this prestigious position. This comes after a stellar year, which saw him represent India in 89 matches and help lift the T20 World Cup trophy earlier in 2024.

DSP Siraj in Action
Siraj is now part of a select group of Indian cricketers who have joined the police force. Joginder Sharma and Harbhajan Singh, both former cricketers and T20 World Cup winners, are also serving in similar capacities. Siraj is the second athlete in just one month to join the Telangana police, following the appointment of boxer Nikhat Zareen as DSP in October.

A Promise Fulfilled by the Telangana CM

The announcement of Siraj’s appointment came from Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy, who had promised to offer a Group-I position to Siraj in recognition of his achievements. True to his word, the CM presented Siraj with this opportunity, highlighting the state’s strong commitment to supporting sports and athletes.

Siraj Balances Cricket and Duty

Even though Siraj has taken on this new role, his cricket career continues in full swing. He is currently preparing for the much-anticipated three-match Test series against New Zealand, which kicks off on October 16 in Bengaluru. Siraj wasn’t part of India’s recent T20I series against Bangladesh, allowing him some much-needed rest before rejoining the red-ball squad. He’s set to join the rest of the team in Bengaluru as they begin their preparatory camp.

Balancing Excellence

Balancing the demands of an international cricket career and public service is no easy feat, but Siraj seems up for the challenge. His new position as DSP serves as a testament to his discipline and dedication both on and off the field. His story is an inspiration for many aspiring cricketers and athletes, proving that hard work and talent can open doors beyond the sporting arena.

Support Siraj in his dual journey as a cricketer and DSP! Keep an eye out as he takes on New Zealand in the upcoming Test series starting October 16.
