Pakistan’s captain, Bismah Maroof, and leg-spinner Ghulam Fatima have suffered “minor injuries” following a car accident on the evening of Friday, April 5th, as per a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Although the details and severity of their injuries have not been disclosed, the PCB confirmed that both players received immediate medical attention and are currently under the care of the medical team. The PCB provided an update on the situation, stating, “Both players are part of the probables attending a training camp for the upcoming series against the West Indies, scheduled to begin on 18th April.” This incident raises concerns about Maroof and Fatima’s participation in the series if they do not recover in time. Pakistan is set to host West Indies for a three-match ICC Women’s Championship ODI series, followed by five T20Is, as part of their preparations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh later this year.
