Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir in a heated on-field discussion

Former Indian batter and two-time World Cup winner, Gautam Gambhir, is now the head coach of the Indian Cricket Team. This could mark the beginning of a new era for Indian cricket.

Under Gambhir’s guidance, the team is set to compete in major events like the Champions Trophy and WTC Final in 2025. But what’s intriguing is Gambhir’s reunion with star batter Virat Kohli. These two aggressive players from Delhi have always had a love-hate relationship on the field.

Their rivalry began in 2013 during an IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). A heated altercation between Kohli, the fiery RCB captain, and Gambhir, the fierce KKR captain, started their famous saga. The tension flared up again in 2016 during another Kolkata-RCB match.

Even in 2023, the verbal exchanges continued. Kohli and Gambhir had another heated confrontation during an RCB match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), where Gambhir was the mentor. Things escalated during the post-match handshake when Gambhir stepped in as Kohli argued with LSG player Naveen-ul-Haq.

However, peace was finally made in IPL 2024. During a match between RCB and KKR, Kohli and Gambhir hugged each other, marking their first friendly meeting since the intense night in Lucknow in 2023.

As the Indian Cricket Team gears up for the upcoming ICC events, a strong bond within the team is crucial. With Gambhir’s strategic mind and Kohli’s batting skills, they have the potential to bring home the ICC trophies.
