India’s star pacer from the ODI World Cup 2023, Mohammed Shami, has been eagerly anticipating his return to the cricket field. Shami has been absent from the action since the World Cup final, where he had an outstanding tournament, emerging as the leading wicket-taker.
Following the World Cup, Shami underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon in February. Since then, he has been diligently working on his rehabilitation, aiming for a swift recovery. Recently, he posted on social media, hinting at his return, and shared that he has started practicing in the nets.

When Will Mohammed Shami Return to the Indian Team? Shami’s comeback is highly anticipated, as he has been a crucial bowler for India in recent years. There were hopes that he might return for the Test series against Bangladesh, starting on September 19.
“Shami has started to bowl, which is a good sign. September 19 is the first Test against Bangladesh, and that was always the goal. I don’t know if that is his timeline for recovery; we will have to ask the guys at the NCA about that,” Ajit Agarkar mentioned during a press conference before the team left for Sri Lanka.
If Shami doesn’t make it for the Bangladesh series, fans may have to wait until the New Zealand series, beginning on October 16, to see him back in action.
