Rohit Sharma’s Patience Tested
Rohit Sharma, currently facing the pressure of a four-match losing streak as captain, encountered another challenge. This time, it wasn’t on the field but off it, as young Yashasvi Jaiswal arrived late, delaying Team India’s departure for Brisbane.
The Incident
Team India had scheduled their departure from Adelaide for Brisbane earlier today. All players, except Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah—who were traveling separately with their families—were present in the hotel lobby. However, one player was conspicuously absent: Yashasvi Jaiswal.
As the team bus stood ready at 8:30 AM ACDT, an impatient Rohit Sharma waited alongside head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar. Despite giving extra time, Jaiswal was nowhere to be seen. Frustrated, Rohit decided to proceed without him.

Jaiswal Left Behind
With no sign of the young opener, the team bus departed, leaving Jaiswal behind with the team manager and senior security officer. Twenty minutes later, Jaiswal finally appeared at the lobby, realizing he had missed the bus. Fortunately for him, alternate arrangements were made, and he was driven to the airport separately.
While it’s unclear why Jaiswal was late, this rare lapse might serve as a cautionary tale for the young cricketer. Rohit’s actions, though stern, underline the importance of discipline in international cricket.
India’s Upcoming Matches
With the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) tied at 1-1, Team India now gears up for the remaining fixtures:
- December 14-18: 3rd Test at The Gabba
- December 26-30: 4th Test at the MCG
- January 3-7: 5th Test at the SCG
Every game is crucial as India aims to secure the series and regain momentum.
