Veteran Pakistani cricketer Bismah Maroof has taken everyone by surprise by announcing her retirement from international cricket. The decision came swiftly after Pakistan’s 3-0 defeat to the West Indies in a recent ODI series in Karachi.
Maroof, who represented Pakistan in an impressive 276 international matches across formats, shared her heartfelt decision on social media, bidding farewell to her illustrious 17-year career. As a leader, she captained the Pakistan women’s team in 96 matches, showcasing her leadership qualities on the field.
Expressing her deep passion for Pakistan cricket, Maroof wrote, “For 17 years, cricket has been not just a sport but a passion, a dream fulfilled, and a journey of growth beyond measure.”
Throughout her career, Maroof amassed over 6,262 runs and claimed 80 international wickets for Pakistan, exhibiting her consistent batting prowess and all-round abilities.
Despite retiring from international cricket, Maroof has expressed her availability to play league cricket around the globe, ensuring her cricketing journey continues beyond the international stage.
