No central contract? No problem for Marcus Stoinis! Despite missing out on a central contract with the Australian Cricket Team for the upcoming year, the resilient 34-year-old all-rounder is eager to continue representing his country after the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup.
Stoinis’ Heroics in the IPL
Stoinis recently showcased his prowess with a remarkable century for the Lucknow Super Giants against the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Promoted up the order to number 3, he remained unbeaten on 124 runs from just 63 deliveries, leading his team to victory.
No Contract Renewal, No Worries
While Stoinis’ central contract with Cricket Australia expires on 30th June and hasn’t been renewed for the next year, he remains undeterred. The seasoned campaigner views it as an opportunity to pave the way for younger talents while staying focused on contributing to the team’s success on the field.
Stoinis’ Positive Outlook
“I’ve got a great relationship with the [Australia] coach [Andrew McDonald]. Me not getting a contract, I knew that a while ago. I think it is great to give younger kids a crack and let them take my spot. I’m absolutely fine with that on the contract list. But on the playing front, obviously want to make sure that I’m there and that’s also why it’s so lucky for us and for me particularly to have this competition [the IPL], that’s why I love it so much,” Stoinis expressed after the CSK vs LSG clash.
