Despite not showcasing his workouts on social media, Shami revealed that he lifts heavier weights than any other cricketer in the gym. The 33-year-old pace bowler, who gained widespread acclaim for his outstanding performances in the 2023 World Cup, disclosed that he can execute leg presses with an impressive 750 kgs.
Shami’s commitment to fitness became evident during the World Cup, where he emerged as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker despite sitting out the initial four games. His impactful return saw him secure a five-wicket haul against New Zealand in Dharamsala. Throughout the competition, Shami claimed a remarkable 24 wickets in just seven matches, featuring three five-wicket hauls.
