Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) turned the IPL 2025 into a batting carnival after pulling off a jaw-dropping run chase against Punjab Kings (PBKS). SRH chased down a massive target of 246 runs with ease, leaving everyone amazed — including Shreyas Iyer.
Shreyas Iyer couldn’t hold back his laughter while talking about the unbelievable chase at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. The Sunrisers won the match with 9 balls to spare, breaking records and making headlines.
SRH’s Batting Fireworks Light Up Hyderabad
The opening duo of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head set the tone with a blistering 171-run partnership in just 12.2 overs. After Head departed for 66, Abhishek took the charge and smashed an unbeaten 141 runs from just 55 balls — including 14 fours and 10 massive sixes.
This historic win has now become the second-highest successful run chase in IPL history.
Shreyas Iyer’s Funny Reaction
Shreyas Iyer was all smiles post-match. He said, “It was a fantastic total. It made me laugh how they chased it with two overs to spare.” His fun take on the game added to the vibe of the night.
However, Shreyas also pointed out that Abhishek Sharma was slightly lucky. PBKS dropped a few crucial catches, and Abhishek survived a no-ball dismissal early in his innings.
“We could have taken two exceptional catches. Abhishek was a bit lucky, but he played a top-class knock,” Shreyas added.
PBKS To Regroup For The Next Battle
With this loss, PBKS slipped to sixth on the points table. They now have six points from five matches and will look to bounce back against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 15 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium.
